ENJOY ART, FOOD, AND FUN IN ONE OF BOULDER’S MOST EXCITING AREAS
Every July a vibrant, visual celebration of the arts descends on downtown Boulder. From humble beginnings, this celebration has grown over the course of 40 years into the Pearl Street Arts Fest, a beloved summertime tradition and one of the most popular events on the city’s social calendar.
Situated in Boulder’s renowned Pearl Street walking district, the 2019 Arts Fest is scheduled to feature over 75 artists. While many of the artists in attendance hail from Colorado, many more will be representing 20 other states from across the country.
The art on display this year includes an incredible collage of styles and disciplines:
- Sculptures in a variety of materials and forms
- Handcrafted wood art
- Acrylic, oil, and watercolor paintings
- Jewelry, ceramic, and glass pieces
- Textiles
- Drawings and pastels
- Photography
Noncollectors who are more inclined toward form and function will certainly find plenty to celebrate as well. The show will also have handcrafted furniture and an abundance of wearable art on display.
Festival admission is free. Those looking to make a day of it should also take advantage of the fantastic downtown Boulder location. Over 100 restaurants and eateries dot the downtown area with many within easy walking distance to the Arts Fest. There also will be several options for grab-and-go food with numerous sitting and picnic spots spread throughout the area.
Boulder boasts a lively permanent art scene beyond the yearly festival with over 30 art and craft stores and galleries situated in and around downtown. If you love art, you will indeed love Boulder.
The 41st annual festival officially starts on Saturday, July 20. On Friday, July 19, however, you can grab a sneak peek of what’s to come at the new 14th Street Artist Preview. Here is the full festival schedule:
- Friday, July 19, 14th Street Artist Preview, 3–8:00 p.m.
- Saturday, July 20, Arts Fest, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Sunday, July 21, Arts Fest, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Pearl Street Arts Fest symbolizes everything that is great about the incredible city of Boulder. This event should be on your must-visit list not just this summer, but every summer.
